Metallic Stearates

Barium Stearate

High-temperature co-stabilizer and lubricant — with a 210–220 °C melting point it keeps lubricating where lower-melting soaps have already melted away.

Barium stearate white powder

Overview

Barium stearate is the high-temperature member of the stearate family. Its melting point of 210–220 °C means it keeps providing lubrication and co-stabilizing action at processing temperatures where lower-melting metal soaps have already fluxed, making it valuable in demanding PVC and allied plastics applications. The figures below are from the safety data sheet; a full technical data sheet is available on request.

Key Properties

  • High melting point — 210–220 °C
  • Co-stabilizer / heat-stabilizer component
  • Lubrication that persists at high processing temperatures
Typical Applications PVC processing, Allied plastics
Available Forms Powder
